Is This Summer?

Considering its supposed to be Summer the weather is decidedly cold, not condusive to sitting in the garden knitting or stitching. I have however taken advantage of the cooler rainy weather to continue with my quilting indoors. The end is in sight for the quilting of my log cabin quilt. This week I am listening to Walter Mosley"s book "Fortunate Son" while I quilt.

The garden is really flourishing with the cool wet weather, its nice not to have to water all the time. One of my favourite flowers in the garden right now is one I discovered last year at my local garden centre. Its a Spider Lily. It has masses of blooms every morning but by evening they're all closed up, next morning they're there to greet me again.

I Love Poppies

These beauties are in a small flower bed beside my front pathway. The plants were tiny last spring when my daughter gave them to me. My son in law grew them from seed ; and this Spring they have bloomed beautifully. My only wish is that the flowers would last longer. It has rained for the last 24 hours so the Poppies are not looking so good, but lots of other things are coming into bloom.

A Favourite Pastime

Today I am doing one of my favoutie things, hand quilting. I love to sit at my quilt frame and watch a quilt top come to life. I am presently quilting a Log Cabin quilt with 1"logs; the dark logs are in fall colours and the light side in shades of beige. I hope to have learned how to post a photograph to my blog by the time the quilt is finished.
While I quilt I like to listen to books on CD. Today I am listening to "The Woods" by Harlan Coben.
